Canceling an Event or Group
Sometimes events need to be canceled. Juno supports canceling either an entire event or individual groups within an event. Both actions handle existing bookings and invitations gracefully, but they cannot be undone.
Canceling an Entire Event
Canceling an event affects everything associated with it — all groups, all invitations, and all bookings.
How to Cancel
- From the event dashboard, click the three-dot action menu
- Select Cancel Event
- A confirmation modal appears showing:
- The event name
- The total number of invitations that will be affected
- A summary of booking statuses across all guests
- Confirm the cancellation
What Happens
When you cancel an event:
- The event status changes to Canceled
- All groups are automatically canceled
- All draft guests are removed
- Existing invitations are processed for cancellation — Juno will attempt to get refunds for bookings where possible
- The event dashboard switches to a read-only view with a red “This event has been canceled” banner
Canceling an event cannot be undone. All groups and invitations will be permanently affected. If you only need to cancel some guests, consider canceling individual groups instead.
Canceled Event Dashboard
After cancellation, the event dashboard remains accessible for reference, but editing is no longer possible. Historical booking and invitation data is preserved.
Canceling a Group
If only one cohort of guests needs to be canceled, you can cancel an individual group without affecting the rest of the event.
How to Cancel a Group
- From the event dashboard, select the group from the group dropdown
- Click Edit Group
- In the Edit Group drawer, click Cancel Group at the bottom
- A confirmation modal appears showing:
- The group name
- The number of invitations in this group
- A summary of booking statuses for guests in this group
- Confirm the cancellation
The Cancel Group option only appears when the group has existing invitations. If the group has no invitations, you can simply delete it instead.
What Happens
When you cancel a group:
- The group status changes to Canceled and it is removed from the active group list
- Draft guests for this group are removed
- Existing invitations in this group are processed for cancellation
- Juno will attempt to get refunds for bookings where possible
- Other groups in the event are unaffected
Canceling an Individual Trip
You can also cancel a single guest’s trip without canceling the entire group. This follows the same process as the standard guest workflow — from the guest’s detail page, click the three-dot menu and select the option to cancel or withdraw the invitation. See Managing Invites for details on managing individual guest invitations.
Cancellations and Refunds
When an event or group is canceled and guests have existing bookings:
- Flights — Juno initiates cancellation and refund requests where possible
- Hotels (direct book) — Cancellation requests are submitted to the hotel
- Hotels (room block) — Room block reservations are canceled and rooms are released back to the block
- Ground transportation — Any active bookings are canceled
Refund availability depends on the booking provider’s cancellation policy. Some bookings (especially non-refundable flights or hotel rates) may not be fully refundable.
